We combine pure and applied research, long-term studies and shorter projects (often post-graduate projects) with the aim of improving biodiversity conservation. Most of our projects involve migratory bird populations, but fall broadly into three categories which frequently overlap: i) demographic studies of migratory waders, involving tracking of marked individuals over population ranges and generations. ii) effects of land-use strategies on biodiversity and iii) relationships between natural variation in space and time (such as weather, succession and geology) and bird populations.
